Kraken sound as if they are about to implode or explode at any given second at all times. With all lyrics yelled in barely intelligible French, it’s impossible for me to say what they’re bellowing on about, though one song is titled Kevin Costner. For fans of the Brainbombs, Drunks With Guns and Pussy Galore.

This fourth album from Toronto's favorite sons is their most dark and beautiful outing to date. While maintaining the gospel and soul influences they've always had, Porcella owes its sound very much to "Chelsea Girls"-era Nico, "Odyssey and Oracle"-era Zombies, "Forever Changes"-era Love, Leonard Cohen and The Bad Seeds (the Nick Cave band - not the Texas 60's band). The results: Timeless and incredible. Right now the album is available as a thirteen track CD only. In January In The Red will be releasing this album on vinyl as a double disc gatefold with alternate artwork and title plus seven additional tracks.

The results: Timeless and incredible. Right now the album is available as a thirteen track CD only.
